Before you say anything about your religion and how it holds up, I would suggest that you read my articles on other religions. Without doubt, one can come only to one logical conclusion... there is but One True God. This is not what people categorize in Christianity. Catholics, Mormons, Hebrews, 7th day Adventists, all claim, or are categorized, into Christianity, however they are anything but. To be a Christian, you must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; believe that He is the Son of God who died on the Cross to save the world from an end in Hell and is your only way to be worthy of Heaven; and confess the above with your mouth along with the fact that you are a sinner and need to be forgiven and washed in His Holy blood.
First, let me address one issue people have with the word Trinity. This is different from a triune which is three separate, distinct beings that make up a god and is of Pagan origin. the Bible states many times over in the Old Testament and New testament that there is a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that all are one. It is not something new. Think of it like this:
Time is made up of past, present, and future. You can't have time without all three, but they all serve a different purpose.
In the beginning He created all things. God did this in six literal days. A day being 24 hours. Some thoughts here before moving on with this:
Gap theory, first days were millions of years, and evolution/big-bang- Some Christians choose to believe there was a gap in time between Genesis 1:1 and 1;2 that included the downfall of Satan, people inhabiting the earth, dinosaurs living, etc. that makes the Bible fit science. Understand when you do this, you allow Satan to shake the very foundation of the Bible so now, if that is wrong and leaving things out, the rest of the Bible must also. you allow the world and Satan to dictate what is right and wrong in the Bible versus being dependant on God. The Bible IS the authoritative reference on EVERYTHING and must be taken in its literal and correct sense. The same facts that the people use to try and disprove the bible actually PROVE it. i will do another article on that because it would take up a lot of space here; however, the "facts" science uses are all subject to MAN'S interpretation. To base your beliefs of god's Holy Word to fit into mainstream science means that you believe God's word to be fallible and that man is smarter than God. I subject to you, that all man made facts of science are only "proven" by what men believe to be true based on assumption and NOT absolute fact. I submit to you that God created the earth in 6 literal days just as the bible states, and if you think any different, to paraphrase Martin Luther from the 1800's, "In all things you do not understand, grant the Holy Spirit the honor of being more learned than you." Don't convolute the bible to meet today's theories and make it "fit-in" with man's views. These are God's INFALLIBLE words and you must treat them as such.
Well, enough on that, as said, I will pick that up in another article. Adam and Eve were created and man was perfect as God clearly states in Genesis. Satan tempted Eve into eating the forbidden fruit. She in turn had Adam eat it. This gave them knowledge of good and bad and was the original sin. From that time forward, man started a downfall from perfection as he had disobeyed God. Through time, generation after generation has gone farther away from perfection. Since we are sinners, there is no way for us to be perfect in the eyes of the Lord. Only perfection is allowed into Heaven. Heaven is not about worldly things (money, riches as we know them, carnal pleasures, etc), it is about worshipping and glorifying god. To think it can consist of virgins for sexual pleasure, money riches for our own, or anything else, completely goes against God because He is not OF this world and the pleasures that we see in it are not His.
God truly loves everybody. Think about it. He created everything there is. He did not want us to have to fall short of the Kingdom. During Old Testament times, people had to have sacrifices offered by priests as atonement for their sins and there were only certain times that this could be done! Anyone at that time who was not worthy of offering the sacrifice or going into the holy of holies, would be destroyed. Man found it hard to follow this and the other Levitical laws and the issue was that there would ALWAYS have to be a sacrifice to atone because man would always continue to sin. There had to be a new covenant. That new covenant is the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. God said that there was no forgiveness without the shed of blood. The problem with anything's blood here on earth is that it can never be perfect. Jesus Christ's blood truly is.
Jesus was God in the flesh to come and offer the ultimate sacrifice for His saving blood. This blood would ultimately wash away our sins. All prophecies about the Messiah in the Old Testament were fulfilled by Jesus. He then died on the cross and rose again o the third day. Old Testament prophecy in Isaiah said that He would spend three days in the belly of the earth.
Now when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He is our mediator on Judgment Day when we all answer for our sins. Those who are not saved will stand there and say, "I did this, and this while I was alive, loved everybody, went to church, and gave money". God, though, will still only see something that is not perfect and unworthy to come in to Heaven; however, those who are saved have life! God will see the pure and perfect blood of Jesus that washes us clean. We will be perfect. That is God's saving grace that we all fall short of unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Many people want to say, it is all a tale, He didn't really die on the cross, it was fake. To that I present this:
First in Mark 9:31, Jesus tells that He will be crucified and rise again on the third day:
31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
We know Jesus was then crucified and died on the cross to save us all. But what about rising again on the third day? Well, Pilate and others feared what might happen if they were any chance He did rise again. They came up with an idea that the Disciples might go and take Him from the tomb to "try" and fulfill the prophecy, so, they had armed guards posted until the three days were up. We see this in Matthew 27:62-66:
62Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Here we are. We all know what happened next. On the third day, Jesus had arisen! But what in the world? There are hundreds of theories but only ONE truth. the guards were said to have fallen "asleep". An angel of the Lord appeared and when He did, these armed men, tough Roman soldiers, cringed, and became scared and weak at the awesome power, and quite literally passed out. We then find the discovery in Matthew 28:1-7:
1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
There is an interesting point. Let's think back to these days. Women played important roles in society and the church, but nothing like today. Why then if all this was a lie, a fable, made-up, would they have not used men to have made this discovery so that it would be more believable? Because it was the truth! But Pilate and the elders got scared now when the soldiers reported this. What were they to do now that it was the third day as prophesied and He was risen? time for more lies. In Matthew 28:12-15:
12And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
One lie made that follows the Jewish nation even through today. But let's look at another point on the Resurrection. I want you to look at John 19:39-40:
39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
We all know they beatings, torture, blood loss, before hanging on the cross. Then the added blood loss, pain, labored breathing and eventual piercing of the spear. Do you think that someone could survive in a sealed tomb, all by themselves for three days? What about with the weight of almost 100 pounds of linen, oils, etc? Look again at what Jesus just went through. You expect someone to be able to breathe in this condition with their body wrapped like this. They would have constricted breathing even being healthy and face death after three days. The lies don't add up!! We are also told that when the disciples entered the tomb, the headpiece was laid to the side separate from the wrappings which were untouched. Explain that with all those theories! Explain how a mere man could remove this head piece yet leave the wrappings undisturbed, all on his own, or for that matter, even with help.
Let's look at the Disciples. They went everywhere with Jesus and were with Him when He was crucified. The Bible tells us they forsook Him and fled. They were scared and in disbelief as to what had just happened. Their Lord was dying on the cross. The Disciples then hid in a house scared for their lives. Know also, that before Jesus was crucified, Peter had denied knowing Him three different times. But we know that they later professed His name and that He was truly the Son of God. What could have changed their minds? Only the Resurrection and seeing Him again. I submit to you the way that each Disciple died.....
• Andrew- crucified
Andrew was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers, they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. When he was led toward the cross, Andrew said: "I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it." He continued to preach to those torturing him for two days until he died.
• Bartholomew- beaten then crucified
• James (son of Alphaeus)- stoned to death
He was thrown over a hundred feet down from the church in Jerusalem when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the temptation.
• James (son of Zebebedee)- beheaded
The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian
• John- exiled for his faith, died of old age
John faced martyrdom when he was boiled in a huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. He was miraculously delivered from death. He was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos where he wrote the Book of Revelation. He was later freed and returned to serve as Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey.
• Judas (not Iscariot)- stoned to death
• Matthew- speared to death
• Peter- crucified upside down
• Phillip- crucified
• Simon- crucified
• Thomas- speared to death
• Matthias- stoned to death
• Paul- Beheaded
Tortured and then beheaded by the evil emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67
Name one time, just one, that 12 men even 5 or 6 would die horrible deaths and suffer persecution for a lie when all they had to do to save themselves is denounce it? It has NEVER happened. It was NOT a lie. Jesus IS the way the truth and the life. If you will just believe and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, you to can share the Kingdom of God. Works you do on earth, people you know, memberships at churches, none of these, nothing, except accepting Jesus Christ will grant you passage in to Heaven. Just pray, right now. Ask Him in to your heart. Submit to Him. He is calling.
