Supposed contradiction and verses:
Were the disciples supposed to take sandals or not?
9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats
Mark’s account certainly shows the disciples were to were sandals. So what do we do with Matthew’s account? Read it carefully, that’s what! Jesus is telling them what not to provide for themselves in that passage. He is not saying to walk barefoot, He is telling them not to take an extra pair as all these things would be provided for them. They had to fully trust in the Lord. No contradiction!
