Does Every Man Sin or Not?

Supposed contradiction and verses:

Doea every man sin or not?

YES….

1 Kings 8:46

If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

2 Chronicles 6:36

If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away captives unto a land far off or near;

Proverbs 20:9

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Ecclesiastes 7:20

 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
1 John 1:8-10

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

NO….

1 John 3:9

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Answer:

   The atheist has gone out of their way to make up this one. Let us first establish three points. First, man has sinned as pointed out in 1 John 1:8 & 10 above. Second, there is forgiveness for sin as we see in 1 John 1:9 listed above. And third, God encourages us not to sin as seen in 1 John 2:1 which says…

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

   Clearly John was making a point in Christian living. When we have our past sins forgiven, we live in such a way that our lives show we are living for Christ. It does not make us perfect, we are human, only one man, Jesus Christ, has ever lived sinless, which supports the other passages. Committing sin as in 1 John 3:9 is the willingness to live in sin and continue on without conviction or change. Proof of this is John’s follow-up thought in 1 John 2:1 that shows, we are not to sin, but if we do, we have an advocate, Jesus Christ. There is no contradiction!
