Are You Drawn to the Light?

For a while, the thought has run through my head about a topic I often hear people say. Lucifer, was the most beautiful angel, the most beautiful being, or thing in creation. Often, we see pictures of Satan as red/scarlet, with horns, sharp teeth, long tail, and very hideous. Let me say, this is a very good description of what he is in his spiritual form. The red/scarlet cover represents sin, and he is the author of it. The horns remind us of his depiction through the visions in the Book of Daniel in the form of the Anti-Christ and the final world system, and also John’s depiction in Revelation. The teeth are those which seek to devour humanity away from the presence of the Lord at all cost. And his tail is indicative of the serpent he was in the garden of Eden to the dragon he has become in his final battle where he is thrown out of Heaven by Michael and the angels. He swept 1/3 of the angels with him when he rebelled against God and has grown from a serpent to a dragon because of the mass of humanity feeding him their sinful nature.

But Satan is crafty. He’s wily. If he really looked like that, everyone would be scared of him and avoid him, but he is beautiful…..on the outside. He is a “light-bearer” as referred to in the Bible making things seem like they are ok to do and follow. Justification of sins based on perverted interpretation of scripture has given us a world that is full of “professing” Christians that say as long as you say you believe in God, it’s ok….without taking much thought into what god they serve. A world that says regardless of God’s Word says, it is ok to commit adultery, fornicate, be homosexual, use drugs, curse, blaspheme, listen to music that promotes sex and Satan, watch and read things like Twilight that have roots in Satanism, and the list goes on. Look how beautiful Satan is! And YOU may very well be trapped in it. Why does it all look so good and seem so justifiable? Because he is black on the inside, dark, cold, and a killing machine. Just as a predator camouflages himself to fit in and then strike, so does he. Looks really good on the surface, and then when he has his grips on you, you become blinded to the truth. So it has been since the day he first rebelled.

Well, what I get hung up on, is just how beautiful people elude to Satan. It is a twisted beauty, superficial, and untrue, but man easily falls for it. What we have lost eyesight of, is the beauty of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. There is a smokescreen in our everyday walk that often we forget just how wonderfully awesome, beautiful, and loving He is! As the Creator of ALL things, there is NOTHING and NO-ONE any more beautiful than Him. He made it all, and His plan was already there before time began. Jesus Christ sits on the Mercy Seat of Heaven, our atonement and justification, and our righteousness. When we see Him, He will still have the scars from His ministry when He dwelt among us in the flesh. We will recognize those scars, even though we weren’t there that day He was crucified, it was still me and you that put them there! We are the ones! We did it because if it were only one of us that would ever come to Him in the history of this world, He would have done it anyway. THAT….is amazing love. There is no greater love to be found, as He is the author of it.

Beauty is the perfection of love, thus God is love no doubt. And when you look at it that way, the sheer awesomeness of God escapes every imagination of what you can ever think you know about Him. We can’t comprehend it. See, here’s the difference. Satan is beautifully created. Jesus has always been, before time began, never created. Satan has an outward beauty as a bearer of light, he transforms, and tricks to hide the evil pent up inside him. In his light, there is darkness. But look at this verse…

1st John 1:5

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

There is nothing but Light in God…He is light. No darkness at all. He’s not trying to trick anybody, He doesn’t have to, He is Truth. So then what’s up with us? Why do humans fall short and continue in sin? If it is so easy, why are all of us constantly struggling? I have said before, it goes back to the Garden of Eden. Man has free-will to choose God, to love and to obey. Why? Because if we were made robots with no choice, sure, things might be good with no sin, but with a choice, true love is found! If your husband or wife HAD to love you versus choosing to, that love would not be on a scale anywhere near one who did so because they wanted to. Thus, the reason for the availability of a choice in the Garden of Eden…and Adam and Eve failed miserably. Because of that, we inherit a nature inside us that continually wants us to rebel as well. Two imperfect beings, (Adam & Eve were no longer perfect after they sinned), can never produce anything better than themselves. They started out battling the father of lies, and we are still doing it today! It’s what is inside us God wants to come in and take root with the Holy Spirit to try and change us if we are willing. And because we are imperfect, even though justified through Christ, we still have that struggle and it will never go away until we are made whole with Him when we get our glorified bodies and are forever in His presence. Until then, we battle that…and there are influences that come in our lives by people, things, etc. But we know where they come from:

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

There is why it’s not easy. We are battling POWERFUL forces beyond our comprehension. Prayer, reading your Bible, fellowship with other CHRISTIANS, removing influences that are not of God from your life, and being a light to the rest of the world are your only defenses. How easily you can become trapped if you don’t, and when I walk around to different areas of my work, or even in life outside those doors, I see how much professing Christians give excuses to put themselves in the middle of sin. In the middle of conversations they have no business being in. Speaking words that we have no business saying. Holding grudges we aren’t supposed to hold. Back-biting others. Lusting after women or men when we are married. Being a drunkard. Sexual perversions we have no place in. Standing against God when we tell others to be tolerant of false religions that are sending them to hell. Pornography on the internet, movies, etc. telling everyone one side of God, that He is a God of love only….which although true, He is just and righteous, and when Jesus returns, He is coming back in WRATH! And the list goes on. And the reason, for lack of a better term, is because the “professing” Christian who does these things has no spine. Not an ounce of backbone to stand up and be different. They’re scared of what the world, friends, co-workers, and family will say about them. They want to be part of the status quo and have everyone like them. Notice these three verses…

1 John 3:13

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Luke 6:26

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Luke 12:52-53

52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Jesus was plain and simple in Luke 12:52-53. Because of Him, households would be divided and at odds with each other because of His testimony and what it means to truly follow Him. What more will it be when we are around friends, co-workers, and the rest of the world! As you sit in that circle of friends and they pat you on the back telling you how much they like you because you aren’t a Bible-thumper, and then proceed with vulgarities and you complacently sit there and join in, look for your spine! When a show comes on the TV that “everybody” says is ok, yet you know it is really against the will of God, look for your spine! When you feel like your hands are gripped in a death lock to a chair in a group that is not of Christ, yet you don’t want to cause a scene or be disrespectful, look for your spine! When music is played that glorifies something other than Jesus and it’s justified with “God gave us music”, look for your spine! Hotel California, Hells Bells, Highway to Hell, Stairway to Heaven, Back in Black, Start Me Up, and the bands that play them such as AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, KISS, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue...find your spine! Country music talking about honky-tonk ba-donk-a-donks, your mistress, getting drunk with all your rowdy friends…find your spine! Mood music for the bedroom in the bars & clubs you have no business being in, looking for love that is really lust for your “secret lover”…find your spine! Rap music talking about killing, shooting, ho’s and the like…find your spine! YES!! God gave us the gift of music. Glorify Him with it. YES!! God gave us knowledge and wisdom to have the technology we have today. Glorify Him with it. YES!! God gave us mouths to speak with. Glorify Him with it.

I leave you with these last four verses. It’s up to you to decide what side of the fence you are really on, but there is nothing, NOTHING done in secret.

1st John 1:6-10

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

In His Grace,
