1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
So often, we look at this fallen world and wonder why it is in the state it is, and why the wicked seemingly are in control. People blaspheme God, false religions are on the rise, crime is increased, and sinful lifestyles such as adultery, homosexuality, and fornication are overlooked as normal. Marriage has become a thing of convenience with an easy-out with divorce for any old reason under the sun. The Christian will often wonder, how much longer will this continue, as well as, how much worse can it get. Is God ever coming? We can rest assured that the wickedness of the world will fall along with its leader Satan, but in Godís perfect timing, not ours, and He will rule with a rod of iron. Understand the purpose that the Lord tarries on:
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.:
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers : even as I received of my Father.
There is much praise to be given though! As much as the wicked will endure His wrath, the child of God will be shown His grace. Are we truly thankful for that? Give Him praise daily for the gift of salvation that will save you from the wrath to come. Though we suffer for a while, it is not for ever:
1 Thessalonians 5:8-11
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
