ARisen Saviour

I serve a risen Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was not eastered, He was resurrected. At the cross and at the tomb, there was neither a bunny, nor candy, nor colored eggs. I have searched the Bible over, from cover to cover, and found these practices listed nowhere for us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We do find the honoree of easter spoken of in the Bible though, it is Ashtoreth/Astarte, the Babylonian Queen of Heaven. Check out in an encyclopedia the significance of the bunny and the egg in her worship and her festival this time of year. God speaks on this false idol saying…

Jeremiah 44:25-26

25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

Some of the Israelites were worshipping her; some were just following some of the customs. God was cutting ALL of them off. It is an abomination unto the Lord, regardless of man’s reasoning or excuses to sin. Mainstream Christians choose to talk of how the egg represents the tomb to them, finding a way to justify what they do. I don’t remember Jesus ever saying to do that in order to remember Him. What I do remember is…

Luke 22:17-19

17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:

18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.

19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Lastly, I serve a God that is true to His word. I serve a God that fulfills every promise. He doesn’t do part-way nor with trickery, or with something confounded. My Saviour promised the following…

Matthew 12:39-40

39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus plainly said He would spend three days and nights in the belly of the earth, so the Jesus I follow, the Jesus of the Bible, did not die on “Good Friday”. If only the Body of Christ would search the origins of that! Jesus rose on the morning of first day of the week, which would be Sunday as the Jews recognized Saturday as the last day of the week. That’s only two days, actually 1-1/2 when you count the fact it was between 3pm-6pm on Friday when Jesus would have had to have died and was buried, according to this theory. Some try to say since the Jews saw the days as evening and morning, (6pm to 6pm) then before 6pm Friday was actually Thursday, so it makes three days that way. The issue is, they make Jesus a liar. He said three days and three nights. The problem is not reading their Bibles.

John 19:31

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Many have missed this, or only saw that it says the day of preparation, which is normally Friday; however, notice the words that the Sabbath was a high day. It was not the normal weekly Sabbath at all, which is on Saturday. This was a high Sabbath, and it would have been on Thursday during Passover (note, that the entire week is known as Passover). The preparation would have been on Wednesday, thus, Jesus died on the Cross and was buried before 6pm on Wednesday, because at 6pm, the Jews would recognize it as a new day and it would be their high Sabbath. Wednesday night to Thursday night would have been one day and night. Thursday night to Friday night would be the second day and night. Friday night to Saturday night would be the third day and night, thus completely fulfilling Jesus’ prophecy of three days and nights in the tomb.

John 20:1

The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

The first day of the week, would have been Saturday evening starting at 6pm, and as said, goes to 6pm on Sunday. Mary rose early, it was still dark on Sunday morning, and went to the tomb. My Jesus fulfills every word He speaks; never partially, but always completely. I glory in His resurrection as He instructed, no other props necessary. Death and the grave could not contain Him. He is Glorious.

1 Corinthians 1:22-24

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

In His Grace,
