Unraveling the Serpent Seed

  Some of you may recognize this “doctrine” and others, this will be the first time you hear of it. It is important that you learn about it, as it is a false teaching that has gained some ground since its original inception, back in the 1930’s. More on that in a little bit. The main proponent of this for the past 30 years has been a man named Arnold Murray who has a “church” called Shepherd’s Chapel. I have written about him before as what his church is actually is a cult with many false teachings, and four failed prophecies back in 1980 that few of his followers today are aware of. Murray also teaches a previous earth age (which makes God a liar), denies the rapture (which has the Bride of Christ being tormented during the Tribulation), as well as teaching the modalism of God which removes the deity of the members of the Triune God we serve, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Those are all easily disproved, which I have articles that do that as well, but for this article, we will focus solely on the serpent seed and “kenites” that he derives from this.

   The serpent seed doctrine states that the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden was sex and that when Eve ate of the tree of good and evil, she actually had sex with Satan. Murray and other proponents then suggest that Eve had sex with Adam at some point shortly after too and became pregnant with twins. Cain is supposedly Satan’s seed and Abel Adam’s. The theory also says since Cain is not named in the genealogies this is further proof and the fact that Jesus calls people the seed of Satan and Satan as their father (John 8). The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve had MANY sons and daughters, that aren't named. Since they are not listed in the genealogy of Genesis 5, if you hold to this doctrine, you must now believe that they too are Satan's children. This is ridiculous logic!

   To quickly address the genealogy as far as Cain, he is not listed in the genealogy of Adam because Chapter 5 is listing the Godly line that lead to Noah, which eventually leads to Jesus and it starts with Adam and Eve's son Seth. No need for Cain to be in there. In the New Testament, the list in Matthew shows Joseph's tie in this line for legality issues, and that in Luke in Mary's line is the actual physical tie into this line, thus fulfilling the "seed of the woman" prophecy in Genesis 3:15. That same verse is one point this doctrine tries to use to justify itself because it also speaks of Satan’s seed, but that is a spiritual implication, not literal as we will see later. The same chapters used to make up this false doctrine tear it apart if people would just read. Let’s look first at the fall, where this supposedly happened with Eve and Satan having sex.

Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

   First, it says it was FOOD. Now if one chooses to spiritualize the word food, then they have another huge issue. If it is sex with Satan, it says she gave it (this food which was sex with Satan) to Adam as well. That makes the serpent seed doctrine record the very first homosexual act!!! How utterly putrid!!! Nowhere else in the Bible can one find any place to try and qualify “took the fruit thereof and did eat” as a metaphor for sex. It just isn’t done as there are other words to describe that which are not vague and a cause for confusion. Just a little later in the next chapter…

Genesis 4:1
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

   Adam knew his wife and she conceived. Why would it not say she took of his fruit and ate? Because that phrase doesn’t mean to have sex, this one does, knew. And you will find that many other places in the Bible that men “knew” their wives, never the other phrase. And it also says that after ADAM knew his wife she conceived and had Cain, saying she had a man from the LORD (YHWH). Cain is given the tie to Cain as well as Abel, Satan is never given any credence in it. And further, why would she give glory to God for a son by Satan?

   As far as the seed referenced in Genesis 3:15 and of John 8:44, where Satan is referred to as their father, let’s see those two verses:

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

John 8:44

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

   This is simply spiritually speaking that Satan is their father because they are serving Satan in what they seek to do. If you hold to the theory that this proves Satan has literal offspring, then when Jesus says we have a Father in Heaven, you are forced to stick with that same line of thought and say that God had sex to produce us. That is vile and wicked! Also, if you take the word literally as snake for the serpent in the Garden, then you would need to explain how a literal snake could have sexual intercourse with Eve.  Now should you acknowledge the potential of a figurative usage of the term here, then you needs to explain why the term "serpent" would be figurative and the term "seed" would be literal.  Furthermore, if the serpent was Satan in a different form, and Eve spoke to the serpent, then did Eve have sex with a snake or with a different form of the snake? Or did the snake change into another more appropriate form to have sex with her?  If so, common sense would tell you that Eve would be leery of a snake that talked to her and then changed to something else with which she then agrees to have sex with!  Christians have our Father in Heaven through Jesus Christ because we serve Him. We did not become that way because God had sex with a human and made us, but if you hold to this doctrine, you are left with no room except to be boxed in to that. If you try to make that a physical seed with Satan, you are forced to make it a physical seed with God, and that is blasphemy!

   Now serpent seed teachers like Murray state that the Tree of knowledge of good and evil is Satan and the Tree of Life is Jesus. He then states that when they ate of the tree of knowledge, it really meant having sex with Satan. Huge issue for this false teaching again! When we are told we will eat from the tree of Life, they are now forced to believe it will be sex with Jesus. Also, remember, God banished them from the Garden so they would not eat from the Tree of Life. Well, proponents are now forced to believe that when God ran them from the Garden and placed angels to keep them out for fear of them eating of the Tree of Life, that He did not want them to have sex with Jesus. Oh how wicked and warped this doctrine is! And what about all the other trees in the Garden they were told they could eat of? This theory forces one to makes it out that God was telling them to have sex with them (trees) and the trees were actually demons, angels, or whatever. That means they weren't food for nourishment as God says they were in Genesis 2:9. So this theory calls God a liar! You can't make eat mean one thing for one tree and not the other

   The serpent seed is a vile, wretched theory that began with Hitler, and Murray touts it as his own. The Serpent Seed was the core belief and motivation for Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Hitler wrote that he was told by Lucifer that Jews were the offspring of Satan having sex with Eve and producing Cain who then was also the father of the dark skinned races. Hitler was told that when he destroyed the Jews and the black race, then the Aryan gods would return to earth and set up the kingdom of god and anoint Hitler as the first human king. Makes you all warm and fuzzy doesn’t it? 6 million Jews died for this demonic, unbiblical theory. It is through this, Murray labels people of “Satan’s seed” as kenites. He replaces Israel with people from America and Britain. That’s right. He claims that the people living in Israel now are not Hebrews, they are Satan’s offspring. God disagrees through scripture. Since Israel became a nation in 1948, not one, but FOUR prophecies that are 3000 years old have been fulfilled. I will have another article on that at another time. Someone’s lying, and it for sure is not God.

   The discerning Christian with any lick of common sense can only come to one conclusion: the serpent seed doctrine is false, blasphemous, racist, and putrid!!!
